The Assignment Agency and Oak View Point Films announced today that Dayton Ohio’s Mark Gregory took the top spot this weekend in the Final-Round of the 2015 Search For The One (SFTO) Stand Up Comedy Talent Search. The last round of the 6 round, 6 city, national search - took place this past weekend in Orlando at the River Of Life Christian Center. Gregory came in first place on both the audience and the “Industry” judges ballots. Says Host and Co-creator Akintunde, “The talent was tight in the final round, but Mark simply had the best set of the night”. Gregory is the nephew of legendary comedian and activist, Dick Gregory.
As SFTO 2015 winner, Gregory will receive his very own standup comedy special shooting June 26th in Jacksonville, FL at Impact Church Jacksonville - under the leadership of Bishop George & Pastor April Davis. Additionally, Gregory will be added to the 2015 Rebirth of Comedy Tour. He will be added to the talent roster of The Assignment Agency - specializing in booking and representing Christian and Clean Comedians. Along with the official TSFTO Award, Gregory will receive a custom made hand painted comedy stool - painted by fellow comedian and artist, Mike Washington. Gregory will join 2012 SFTO Winner, Nakita B, 2011 first runner up, Marc Henderson, and Rebirth of Comedy Tour mainstay, Mike Goodwin to film their very own specials under “The Rebirth of Comedy Presents” standup comedy television “Specials” and home video series. The Rebirth of Comedy brand is the fastest growing brand in comedy. ROC tour dates regularly draws hundreds and thousands into churches and venues annually, and the ROC video series saw the “Akintunde Live: The Whole Truth” (No Joke/Arrow-Ent/E-One) special picked up by BET Networks, and was released into national online and retail outlets in 2014. This summer, the standup film, The Rebirth of Comedy presents “The Heavy Hitters” will be released to television, streaming, retail and online retail outlets.
